Long Island Rail Road Photos, Recollections, and Historical Information

Dave Keller's 5000+ pictures, stories, station histories, research data, vignettes, etc... Fabulous material, perhaps the only existing intact collection of material stretching back into the 19th century in private hands. A rail historian and published author on this topic with two books: "The Long Island Rail Road 1925 to 1975" Arcadia Publishing, 2004, "Revisiting The Long Island Rail Road 1925 to 1975"  Arcadia Publishing, 2005.

and

Steve Lynch's 10 year website on LIRR history and information. Engine/caboose/MOW rosters, map collections, photo history, documents, anecdotes, passes, track maps, etc.... A rail historian and published co-author on this topic with Dave Keller's two books: "The Long Island Rail Road 1925 to 1975" Arcadia Publishing, 2004, "Revisiting The Long Island Rail Road 1925 to 1975"  Arcadia Publishing, 2005.

Both of those books topped my Christmas list.  I enjoyed them very much and I'm going through them for the third time.

Thanks Dave and Steve.

Thank you very much for the kind words, Joe.  Smiley I use the website, the books, Scala's book etc. all the time to look things up.

BTW: The publishers had/made no provision for an index.  Cry I went through each book page text/images and complied the index (via Word - no small task!) on the website: http://www.trainsarefun.com/  click on the link and print out. You will find it helpful to locate specific engines, locales, etc.  Wink

Best! Wink

Has anyone ever seen a ticket to The Raunt?  If anyone has one could you post it please?

Has anyone heard from Vince Seyfried lately?  I heard he was very ill and hope he's better now.  Update please if available.

What makes the LIRR so great is if you know how and where to look you can still see their history.
