He may be an idiot, but he has a point here. Don't forget that these cuts also include no weekend service on the WH and reduced service on so many branches. Lots of us are getting screwed.

I'm not the type of person to post this, and I don't want to start on it, as I usually like to stay low on political issues, but ever since Pataki took over as the governor from the elder Cuomo in 1995, the MTA was gonna get screwed in the future as well as Long Island. Look at the facts, why does Metro North get the good stuff, and the LIRR doesn't? Think of what the NYC Transit is getting with this, and what happened in the 70's, and 80's with lots of route cuts, shortened cars, vandalized equipment! I'm not saying this will happen because it won't but if you think of this, does it ring a bell of what happened in the 70's? So if you lived in Westwood, what do you do if you need a train, and you have no transportation, get a taxi??? There are no buses there, and if you lived in Malverne, it isn't so bad, but its the fact of just getting to Valley Stream in which it is 5 or so minutes, now it will take about 10 to 15, and by taxi, it is a lot more than if you took a train, or bus! It will hurt not the people who make lots of money who work in the banking industry in the city, but the middle to low class income families who are struggling to make ends meet. When will the politicians like Patterson ever see the light at the end of the tunnel???

False, but that fact aside, to park at Valley you need a permit from the Village of Valley Stream that you cannot get unless you live in the incorporated village a.k.a. you're shit outta luck if you live in Westwood and Malverne.

False? My wife and I do over 200k and we can't afford Westwood or Malverne! Malverne folks shoulder brutal taxes and yet routinely ship their kids to private schools, so this affects them little to not at all. Also, Valley does have plenty of metered spots available on weekends, check out the western lot south of the tracks west of Hicks St. some along the north edge of the tracks between Franklin and Rockaway, and all along behind the diner just east of Rockaway. Most folks from Malverne go to the closer Lynbrook, where parking is the real issue, as they even charge along side Sunrise, almost as west as Horton. It is a 20 min walk for me from near the village of Malverne to Lynbrook station, which I usually did instead of the 4 minute walk to Malverne simply for a better chance of making it home.
The people getting hosed are in Lakeview and Hempstead Gardens, but they're still served by the N-15, which will be unaffected by the cuts.

In addition, as it stands now, there is only 2 hour service on the west hempstead branch on the weekends. In addition, on most of those trains you have to change at valley stream, then again at Jamaica. Most people on that line go to Valley, or lynbrook, or RVC, or hempstead, rather then be at the mercy of 2 hour service. Think its no big deal? Say you are at a concert, or a Knick or Rangers game. You look at your watch, and the next train is due out soon. Do you leave early, or wait 2 hours for the next one? 2 hours is a long time to kill. If you are going to NY in the evening, the gap after midnight is 7 hours on the weekend.

Another thing is living in between the Port Jeff, and Main Line in Nesconset, service out to Port Jeff on Weekends is scarce with just plain Scoots between Huntington, and Port Jefferson. There is 1 train in the early AM from Jamaica to Port Jeff, and then back to Jamaica with the same crew, but that is the extent of it. Weekdays will be bad when you are taking away the full run of Train 662 fro HPA to PJ, and making it a scoot from Huntington. In effect, the crew that runs it isn't going all the way to LIC which they'd originally do from an earlier westbound run, so that would help in the saving of money due to cuts in crew assignments. 662 isn't as crowded as 660 (Penn to PJ), and 664 (LIC to PJ), but both don't stop at Mineola like 662 does, so what stops there? Now effectively for passengers needing a train to PJ branch stations east of Huntington, there is no direct run unless you transfer at Hicksville, or Huntington to do so, take an earlier train 658, or wait for 666. There is an inconvenience to those passengers who would take 662 from Mineola to PJ branch stations east of Huntington.
