Was there a car float in Whitestone?

No, Built in 8/9/1886, MOVED BACK FROM SHORELINE: 6/1892, CLOSED: 2/15/32 WITH BRANCH ABANDONMENT
Research: Dave Keller  http://www.trainsarefun.com/lirrphotos/lirrphotos.htm  Station History

Similar to docks at Greenport and Oyster Bay built during that era.
 Best, Steve

What year was the Whitestone Branch eliminated? And why? That leaves Whitestone as one of the significant areas of Queens in which there is no rail service.

Had the Whitestone survived today. Do you think it would be a heavily used line such as the Port Washington?
Would the half Hour service be split between Port Wash and Whitestone, or would it be similar to the West Hempstead branch and run scoots between Whitestone Landing and the now Mets W.P.
I could see some mid day scoots but defiantly through service during the AM/PM rush.

Regarding the LIRR web site, there was some discussion about me and another person.
I did in fact contribute some photos as Bob Anderson, and the other Guy is Bob Andersen
