The LIRR no doubt overlooks it's role as a major historical preservation operation.  Up here in Maine, we used to credit the BAR with saving the last operational F3's and BL2's.  When the Power Cars came into being, LIRR scoured the continent for used ALCO FA cabs, and must have gleaned some from scrapyards as well as deadlines.  Today they are distributed all over North America for potential preservation.  Some aren't fairing too well, while others are in the midst of major overhauls.  Where have the FA's gone, and what are their prospects for renovation as of this date?
