I am now an official railfan, since from this time forward, any time I spend at the RR will be of my own choosing...LIRR July1973-Nov 2006

Congrats, RLC!
A question: What is the significance of going out with 33 years? I've known several guys who have left with that many years.
Why not even numbers like 30 or 35? Does it have something to do with any special perks the union offers you to leave, like, right away?
Or is it something like the age 50 and 30 years of service thing?
Just curious . . . . . .
Dave

Thanks dave, its 30 and 50 for somone who hired on before 1987 or so. I only stayed a bit longer because my wife of 30 years is divorcing me, so I needed to keep things as normal as possible for awhile. It is just time. I wanted to get out while I can still walk, 33 years bouncing around on commuter trains takes it's toll on your legs. I also wanted to be young enough to enjoy things for awhile. I will miss the place, but I get a lifetime pass, so I can visit whenever the mood hits me, which will not be too often I will take the train to shea!! To Paul and richard, thank you for your kind works

Ty for the kind words..You know whats funny, I will actually have time to take pictures of things like Roxie's grave and the like, that I could not take speeding by on a train! I will also join one of the local chapters of the NRHS.

Hey LIRR Conductor,
You're retired??? You never did stop by to have a face to face this past summer at Greenport! Sorry we missed the opportunity.
Enjoy your time off, I'm counting down 20 months!

"Retired" LIRRConductor: Congratulatons. I still have 10 to go! Understand the divorce thing, next topic. Good move on being young enough to enjoy life and give the legs a rest. Question?: Once you are out...can we perhaps (beg/hint) see/hear some great photos/insight about YOUR life adventures on the LIRR? Along the lines of Emery, JJ Earl, Mark Smith, et. al.? Best,

LIRR Conductor,
Does Paul know you're computer-active? I'll confirm with him, but I don't think we met. Most of the C's I talked with have a few more years to go. If you were Ken, Dennis, Bruce or one of the regulars I rag chew with, you'd know me. Sorry old man, I don't think we met - but?
Hope to meet one day and make the connection, de Don, n2qhvRMLI
